Mr. Ramesh Nichani
President 2007-2008
The Sindhi Forum of Coimbatore stands at a momentous juncture, celebrating its silver jubilee. Twenty-five years is a testament to the community’s resilience, its spirit of togetherness, and its unwavering commitment to its roots. As the Forum embarks on its next chapter, it is imperative to chart a course that builds upon its legacy while addressing the evolving needs of the community.
I shall share with you all a few things that I have gained from being a member. The main Idea of the founders was that the youth of the community should come together, know each other and be there for each other. In their collective wisdom the organisation was named the “Sindhi Youth Forum”. As the years went by, good sense prevailed and the word “Youth” was removed from the name and the age to continue as members was amended twice and now the retirement age is I think, stands at 55 years.
For many years since its formation I was part of the board working under different Presidents in some capacity or the other, until that honour was bestowed on me. As the President I had the opportunity to choose my team and I went for a very fresh and young team and the results were spectacular. Most of them have gone on to take leadership roles in the years to follow. For me it was a masterclass in resource management. The resources being, time, money and egos. The approach was always to use the in-house talent and that worked very well for me. Overall it was a very satisfying and meaningful tenure, resulting in great friendships, mutual respect and personal growth.
